Ministries At SouthGate

Our church offers opportunities to do good and bless others. SouthGate carries out many efforts to serve and support one another as well as grow in grace and faith. We call these efforts and initiatives: ministries.

We encourage people to find one they might enjoy or connect with to grow in faith.

  • Children's Ministry

We have a commitment to passing on a true and meaningful faith to the next generation.   Our Children's Ministry helps kids get excited about learning about God, encountering and serving Him.   Each Sunday, kids get the chance to grow in their faith through God's Word.  A large part of this is facilitated through our curriculum, Discipleland, which aims to develop character, knowledge and conduct.   We offer  Nursery,  Preschool,  K-1st,  and  2-4th grade classes.

  • Student Ministry

Youth / Family Night for Middle / High School

Meets at SouthGate from 7 - 8:30 pm every  2nd and 4th Thursday nights of each month.   We invite families to stay and be a part of the ministry.

A team of leaders guides the group in learning about faith and seeking God, focusing on development, friendships and faith.  The vision of the Student Ministry is to help youth develop in their relationship with Jesus Christ and with others, to build strong convictions, and to maintain a good Christian testimony in every aspect of their lives.   SouthGate also offers a 5th-6th grade group on Sunday mornings, during the corporate worship service.

  • Men's & Women's Ministry

Men’s ministry promotes following Jesus through encouraging faith, support of one another and service, furthered through unique life groups that gather often on mornings of the week (think coffee, food) and some specific larger style events seasonally.

Women’s ministry brings the women of SouthGate together for support and encouragement through relational events, Bible studies and outreaches that meet women's needs.

  • Worship & Intercession

Worship is much more than a song; it is the cry of our heart and a form of prayer. We value seeing the spaces and circumstances of life as opportunities to promote worship and passionate prayer. We believe the two are often found together and we call that intercessory worship. Sunday presents a special opportunity to participate in worship together.

  • Under His Wings

Hungry for more of God?  Stuck because of sin, bondage or wounding?  Need emotional, physical or spiritual healing?  This is a ministry with the goal of helping people more fully access all that Jesus embodies and provides (Isaiah 61:1-4), including transformation. Sessions are scheduled for one person at a time with a team of 2-3 trained volunteers.

  • Father's Heart

The Father's Heart for Orphans is a ministry of SouthGate Church that serves orphans locally and around the world by raising funds to assist with adoptions as well as financially partnering with several foreign orphan ministries. Local families participate by joining the cause to bring awareness to and raise resources for children's needs.

  • Life Groups

Let's be honest with each other.  How many of us want to have friendship, support and practical help?  How easy is it to get that?  It takes work, acceptance and availability.  Life groups are a great way to start the journey.  They are places where we can hang out together, develop friendships, share experiences, pray for one another and the church, ask for counsel and build the relationships that we hope for and need.

       - GROWING   TOGETHER -

Our groups meet weekly and bimonthly throughout the year.  They meet mostly in homes, sometimes coffee shops, at times in the mountains and other local venues as well as at our church building.   They are led and hosted by people who desire to invest in these growing environments and are trained and supported by our pastors and elders.  Our life groups often integrate couples, singles, students, men and women, and are typically made up of 8-14 people.
